چکیده

Corresponding Author: Christina Schmid, Ph.D., Institut für Diabetes-Technologie Forschungsund Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH an der Universität Ulm, Helmholtzstrasse 20, 89081 Ulm, Germany; email address [email protected] Many people with diabetes routinely measure their blood glucose (BG) on capillary blood samples from the fingertip. Beside other interfering factors, the blood samples’ partial pressure of oxygen (pO2) can affect BG measurements, particularly in systems based on glucose oxidase (GOx) enzyme reactions on test strips.1,2

A Computational Study of Oxygen Transport in the Body of Living Organism (RESEARCH NOTE)

Oxygen is an essential part of the living organism. It is transported from blood to the body tissue by the systematic circulation and large part of it is stored in the blood flowing in capillaries. In this work we discuss a mathematical model for oxygen transport in tissues. The governing equations are established assuming that the blood is flowing along a co-axial cylindrical capillary inside ...

Correlation of simultaneously obtained capillary, venous, and arterial blood gases of patients in a paediatric intensive care unit.

AIMS To investigate the correlation of pH, partial pressure of oxygen (PO2), partial pressure of carbon dioxide (PCO2), base excess (BE), and bicarbonate (HCO3) between arterial (ABG), venous (VBG), and capillary (CBG) blood gases. METHODS Patients admitted to the paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) in Cukurova University between August 2000 and February 2002 were enrolled. RESULTS A tota...

Arterialized Capillary Blood in the Newborn

Mountain, K. R., and Campbell, D. G. (1970). Archives of Disease in Childhood, 45,134. Reliability ofoxygen tension measurements on arterialized capillary blood in the newborn. Samples of blood were obtained from newborn infants simultaneously from an umbilical artery catheter, an 'arterialized' heel, an unprepared heel, and from an 'arterialized' thumb. The correlation between the arterial oxy...

Influence of partial pressure of oxygen in blood samples on measurement performance in glucose-oxidase-based systems for self-monitoring of blood glucose.

BACKGROUND Partial pressure of oxygen (pO2) in blood samples can affect blood glucose (BG) measurements, particularly in systems that employ the glucose oxidase (GOx) enzyme reaction on test strips. In this study, we assessed the impact of different pO2 values on the performance of five GOx systems and one glucose dehydrogenase (GDH) system. Two of the GOx systems are labeled by the manufacture...
